suna is placed in the middle of family politics when his parents insist that he's the rightful heir to their conglomerate's president seat because his older cousin is an illegitimate child. suna doesn't care about the company at all, but he has no choice in the matter. the monochromatic life he leads suddenly bursts into a plethora of colors when he encounters atsumu miya at a party and invites him into a life full of the excitement he's always craved for. all is good and well until suna's parents come home to tell suna that he's going to move abroad to work in the company's headquarters in California.
they're living on borrowed time, and the countdown to goodbye is ticking.

Summary:
Suna dreamed to be normal. To not be judged by the world around him. It was all he knew growing up. Being judged for his differences. Now he hid constantly. Never leaving the house without a hood. Sometimes having to keep a mask nestled on his face.
It was hard. But he had to do it to avoid the stares and condemnation. The constant beratings he received as a child– the rebukes and harsh attacks– were always lurking in the back of his mind. He had grown to detest himself. Grown to detest every fiber of his being all because he started to believe what he was told.
When he starts receiving notes detailing small little things someone likes about him, he can't help but think it's some sick joke. But when the notes just keep coming, he starts to wonder if they may just be real.
When two men– Sakusa Kiyoomi and Miya Atsumu– start being kind to him, he starts to believe that maybe they could accept him for the way he is...

when Suna's at home he's not wearing long sleeves or hoods or masks leaving him fully on display.on the right side of his jaw is a patch of scales. Soft to the touch, they often remind him of snakeskin.other patches of these scales are located on his left elbow, left calf, right shoulder, and right thigh.his canines are a little more elongated than a normal human'shis eyes are heterochromatic one a beep green the other a soft blue.he doesn't hide these behind anything because they are really the only thing he likes about himselfhis hood is often used to cover two soft black fox earssilver fox ears for referenceI have yet to decide if I want him to have a tail or not🤔 (probably won't though unless i have it grow partway through the story...)
My fic is pretty much fully outlined so you can pick from it if I don't have something written already that you want to draw since I'm already on the second chapter.

Suna Rintarou hates playing chess, he really does. He’s gone to desperate lengths in order to get himself out of the circuit– losing constantly, making uncharacteristic blunders in matches, even failing to show up to his tournament games.
In spite of this, his mentors haven’t given up on him, instead opting to send him to a new chess instructor, Komori Motoya, cousin of the famed Grandmaster Sakusa Kiyoomi. To Suna’s dismay, he’s young, intense, and downright gorgeous. He’s quick, and there’s a seemingly undying fire beneath his eyes that makes Suna’s insides bubble with wretched anticipation.
Will Komori’s unorthodox methods reignite Suna’s desire to play? Or will it turn into a tooth-and-nail battle in which only one of them can emerge with their sanity?

This piece will obviously be centered around chess. It’s the final piece in my series “Zugzwang”, which already has one fic up (Desperado, a sakuatsu one!) The atmosphere is similar to dark academia, so as far as color palettes go I'd say dark neutrals and earth tones are best!! I’m trying to capture a lot of tension in the series, and there will be a lot of snappy dialogue and high-stress moments. I hope this helps!!

Summary:
Suna is a troubled teen with a dead mother and a father who's too drunk to remember his son is 19 years old. Suna's never found good friends, had a good school life or known what a warm, safe embrace of a loved one means. He cheats on his toxic lover, gets beaten up by him and runs away from home, far away where no one recognizes him.
Living on the beach had always been a dream, so when he finds himself reading an ad for a job at a bar at a beach, far away from the southern town he grew up in, he catches the first bus to the spot and gets the job.
The quiet bar, with an open view of the grey sea works just fine till he finds himself all too enamoured by grey eyes that frequently visit the bar, especially during his shifts. Starting a game of chase with those grey eyes was supposed to be fun and games till suna finds himself overwhelmed with the intensity of those eyes.
Miya Osamu was bad news, suna decided as he’s kissing his twin, the same intensity in those golden eyes but he only reminisces about grey eyes again. Afraid and overwhelmed by this, all suna can do is run away.
But suna forgot, in this game of chase, osamu always won. Maybe he can get used to the feeling afterall, who knows, not suna, his feet ready to run at every change in his normal.

okay so the summary doesn't do it justice because I am crap at writing summaries, but here's a little note explaining the sequences, pls mind the Trigger Warnings and on we go:
So the story starts off with a scene, probably a monologue from suna in the present about the past where Suna is 9 probably, and its the day after his mother died in a housefire. Later we can see the monologue turning into a full-on past heavy setting where we understand a little about what suna's childhood was like.
moving on we have the present scene, where suna was monologuing during sex with some stranger that offered him the right kind of money, but it's boring vanilla and he's bothered with how many times the man's called him a different name. Suna leaves counting his bills and goes home to another man he isn't in love with but was using as an escapade till he had enough money to leave the town. But apparently the man catches on and tries fighting suna, although it ends up badly for both, suna thinks he has just enough to leave the small town life behind.
He is on a long-distance bus going somewhere north when he catches an ad in a newspaper for a bar-keep that fit his profile of some experience with large crowds before and it is located in the far north, at a beach-spot, with not too many tourists, he has to accept it and he does. He reaches the location at morning, taking a shower in the bus stop rest room, and stealing a meat bun from a shop.
he walks the 2kilometers something to the beach where the bar was located and with a fake-id he applies and gets in, because he just appeals to the old man running the bar. Happy that the job comes with lodging, Suna starts right away, even if his hours are a lot odder than he expected. Running a bar from 1pm to 1am, everyday except Mondays and Thursdays, but he thinks its better than most gigs he'd come across.
Day one he realizes why his work isn't that well-paid. There's barely any patrons from 1-5pm, except for old men who play mahjong or pool in a corner, occasionally asking him for a beer.
A month passes and he notices amongst the old crew there was usually a dark-grey haired, grey-eyed man, boy(?) someone much younger than the older ones hanging there. He had to ID the man once (the irony behind it), only to find out the man was 23, a foodstall owner that was nearby. Being the only two young, handsome guys in the vicinity gave them much to talk about, and even if the man's smiles were a little leading and his eyes seemed the same colour as the January skies looming over the ocean, Suna can only think of how much he likes the colour.
They start an unlikely friendship with exasperated sighs over bar gossip, and deadpan answers to stupidity, till suna's in his bed on a monday afternoon, playing at more than friends and less than lovers.
it goes on for long till the game of chase and go from osamu's end starts feeling like more.
There's some lot of vulnerable shit that happens in between here, where they get drunk on one afternoon, and instead of it being a good time, it triggers suna into a panic and Osamu is more than understanding, and it leads to them talking about a lot of things that went wrong in Suna's life, and Osamu has nothing but supporting shoulders for the crying boy. But that scares suna when he's fully clothed, cuddled into Osamu's chest at 11pm, so he dashes off without waking the other up.
he goes to the bar, but he meets someone who looks exactly like Osamu with golden hair and golden eyes, and there's an instant connection, which suna doesn't deny, following atsumu to a cheap motel, but accidentally moaning osamu's name mid-sex and that's not just embarrassing but he's also overwhelmed with what is happening.
Atsumu tries to understand what happened but is only left behind by the emotional tornado called Suna Rintarou.
it's 5am, and it's the rocky side of the beach, suna's high on emotions, drunk from the bottle he nabbed from the bar's stock, and he's sitting there, smoking something he bummed off of Atsumu, and rocking back and forth to the rhythm of the waves hitting the rocks, trying to make sense of things when he hears footsteps crunching across the gravelly sand behind him.
""Finally, I found you. My brother called me telling me some hot guy freaked out on him after calling him by my name right before coming. That's embarrassing Sunarin.""
It's osamu, obviously its osamu, the person who's caused all the trouble here, but suna just laughs.
""You got me there. Why are you here?""
""Because this is the only place you'd be at, remember you told me?"" And osamu's right, months ago suna told him about this place, Suna was dumb enough to come here.
and blah blah blah, that's about all I have but this is like completely to the end, so we know they end up together, and it's got a happy ending, we'll talk about well osamu treats Suna after this in the fic.

also the fic inspiration mostly is Knee Socks - Arctic Monkeys; The Beach - The Neighbourhood, and like so many Cigarettes after sex songs, go figure why it's so angsty.

"Like any other person, Suna Rintarou doesn’t have any clear memories of his childhood days. He usually just remembers smells, places, colours. He could barely remember his dad and his mom dancing in the kitchen to some Queen song, he could remember his dad whispering “I love you” when he left to go to work.
But if there’s anything he remembers clearly, it is that he saw his dad crying, and his mom promising him things he couldn’t understand. He remembers his dad’s back when he left the house with his bags and never came back. He could recall that image from time to time.
For him, love doesn’t exist, or it doesn’t last, so he kept it apart from his life. He learned to live with the loss, the despair. He learned to like his mother and feel something close to love in volleyball, because the first time his hand hit the ball and he saw the rival’s eyes, his whole body reacted the same way his biology teacher said it should react to love. That’s why he left Nagoya, to feel more, something, anything. Because volleyball is the only thing in his life that would make him feel something. Or that’s what he thought.

This is my backstory for Suna (well, kind of). Its starts when Suna is 6 and will last until he's 25/26 (The end Haikyuu!!). Of course, everything is in canon-compliant. Also, the story will be Suna finding love in all forms (friendship, family, romantic, etc.) so expect a lot of angst too. I included Suna's friendships in "Main Pairings" but the only romantic one/ship is SunaOsa, and an Original Character but it takes part when Suna's is a kid so it's merely platonic. Side Pairings (AtsuKita/SakuAtsu) aren't relevant but they'll be part of Suna's story too. This Fic will have only implied sex scenes and nothing explicit, but I prefer tag it as NSFW and Mature due the strong topics it has.

suna is going to flirt in all the ways he knows how: suggestively fighting him with his knives (knives!), cornering osamu and creating as much sexual tension as possible (until osamu breaks hehe), dressing up smexy just bc he knows they're going to see each other that night and he's getting impatient, and finally, just straight up complimenting him and asking him if he wants to makeout (or more wink wonk)

Summary:
Suna Rintarou is technically a god, a deity watching over the supernatural beings and maintaining the peace. He keeps the Veil up, fixing potential tears in it, and the supernatural beings live unaware and in peace.
Until Miya Atsumu falls in through an overlooked tear on Halloween, searching for his brother. Now stuck between two worlds, Atsumu has to learn how to get back home, or become something else trying.
Yet, in the process of trying to find his twin Osamu and not tip the wrong creature off, Atsumu starts looking for his twin. Suna starts feeling drawn to Atsumu. So he heads down to the surface and befriends Atsumu.
The tugging feeling doesn’t disappear for months. Atsumu becomes a confidant, a friend and Suna feels something more, so does Atsumu.
It’s December when Atsumu finally finds Osamu. After some reconciliation and revelation, Atsumu is now faced with a dangerous choice.

He’s perfectly fine not saying anything but then Atsumu--annoying, stupid, not endearing Atsumu--goes to the shop with him one day and he’s forced to face his feelings more than he wants to.
Atsumu is convinced he should say something, but Suna disagrees.
The universe seems to be on Atsumu’s side, and through a series of chance encounters, Suna is pushed closer and closer to admitting how he feels about Kuroo and asking him on a date.

This should be a pretty fluffy fic! They are both crushing HARD and just need to use their big boy words. I'm not sure exactly how NSFW it will get, but I thought I'd mark it as such just in case. If there are NSFW scenes they will most likely be pretty vanilla tbh.
One of the scenes I have written down in my outline that I wasn't sure how to include in the summary nicely is one where Suna gets caught in the rain and Kuroo sees him as he's closing up the coffee shop so he invites him up to his apartment (he lives above the coffee shop) until the rain clears. The rain doesn't let up so Suna stays the night and there is lots of longing looks, fleeting touches, maybe some clothesharing?

Suna laughed as he grabbed his bag and started booking it down the street, Osamu following close by after grabbing his own bag. They were free and finally going to start the life they wanted to start.
